“Mary kept all these things in her heart and pondered upon them.” LUKE 2: 15-20
Mary gathered up the conflicting events of the last months and pondered them in her heart. Shepherds rejoiced, angels sang, the townsfolk gossiped and Joseph worried. What did Mary do? Mary sat deep in thought, and tried to make sense of it all.
It would require more than memories of the manger before Mary would begin to understand the full meaning of Christ's birth. Later, she would find it much harder to understand his death at the cross. Nothing would make sense at all until she would see the empty tomb.
What about the hard to understand things in your life and mine? Like Mary, take time this Christmas to do some similar deep thinking. But worrisome memories in our hearts are not enough. We need revelation to see what is in God's heart.
THINK DEEPLY: Let's think deeply about the things that don't make sense going on in our world but let's not forget what we have heard from heaven. Deep thoughts of what God has done stores treasure in your heart. Someday, God, the Father, will make it plain to you and the Holy Spirit will help you understand.
PRAYER: Thank you, Father for Jesus, my Savior. He is the Gift from your heart. I pray the Holy Spirit will help me think more deeply about my Salvation. In Jesus' Name. Amen
