Now as he (Apostle Paul) reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix (Roman Governor of Judea) was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you."  Acts 24:25

Procrastination is a thief! It robs us of priceless opportunities. Delayed decisions mean delayed action. We can lose the valuable benefits prompt obedience yields. The Bible has dramatic examples of how costly it is to be distracted and to procrastinate.

Why did Lot put off saving himself and his family, even when warned by angels of coming judgment? It was inconvenient because of worldly entanglements. He was all tied up with living and doing business in the twin-cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. His greed cost him and his family terrible losses. Gen.19:16

On two occasions In the New Testament we hear earnest volunteers plead to postpone discipleship with Jesus. Why? They procrastinated because family cares took priority. Mt.8:21, Lu.9:61 Personal inconvenience and fear are the most common causes of procrastination.

Governor Felix, afraid of the truth about right relationships, a life of moral discipline and the coming judgment, told the apostle Paul, “Go away for now, when I have a convenient time, I will call for you.” It seems Felix never made the call.

SET YOURSELF FREE FROM ANXIETY: and the fear to act promptly. You will never have a more convenient time to act than right now.

PRAYER: “Dear Jesus, I confess my inclination to put things off. I want to change but Father God, you know me. I need the Holy Spirit to help me make the call. Amen”
