“Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there.” The name of the town was called Zoar.” Genesis 19:22

This is a urgent command spoken by an angel, who was part of an angel team sent by God. They were to warn Lot to hurry and get out of town so they could finish off their mission to overthrow and destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Judgment had to wait while mercy was bestowed.

Why? Lot was the nephew of Abraham, a man in covenant with God, an intercessor.Years before, Abraham had chosen to live on the mountain where he built an altar to pray for his family and friends. Lot chose the city and apparently built a house, but no altar.

Later, when Lot was in trouble and judgment was pronounced upon his city. God gave him a chance to escape. Lot struggled, undecided, at the front door while angels pulled to get him out of the house to save himself and the family.

SOMETIMES WE WONDER WHY EVIL SEEMS TO GO UNPUNISHED: It could be the people you pray for struggle with the angels your prayers have sent to their door. God shows mercy before judgement.

PRAYER: Dear Father God, I am thankful you are not willing that any should perish, but be saved. Help my loved ones to accept Jesus as Savior. I see the urgent need for me to pray now so the Holy Spirit can do his work before it is too late. Amen.
