"I am going to send you what my Father has promised, but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high." LUKE 24:49

Jesus' disciples did not know how close they were to an explosion of God's power. It would thrust them with amazing speed into places they had never seen and towards people they would not have chosen to be with. Not only that, but they would be different, vastly different. They would be bold, fearless, passionate and change their world.

The promise of the Father would make the difference. Jesus described a coming Helper, a Counsellor. His advent would empower them. But they had to wait.

Would they wait? Or would they rush ahead, with more zeal than wisdom, and find they had nothing to give when they got there? Or would they ever go anywhere?

Often it rests with us, whether we will wait on the Lord and be empowered by his Spirit, or will we plunge headfirst into a powerless, purposeless waste of our lives.

If you are in a hurry to get to a new job in another town, or a new field of service on the other side of the world. Wait on the Lord. If you have gone before you waited, you can stop and take time to repent and wait.

Meditate on this: Waiting time is not wasted time! Don't go any further without power. He has not given up on you. He is waiting for you.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, I will obey you . I need the Holy Spirit's power and guidance.  I want to go where you want me to go, and not without your anointing. Amen
