"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." ACTS 1:8
Jesus spoke these words to men he chose to take his message to the world. He knew they had limitations, lots of them. They were limited in education, with no formal theological studies. They were limited in their world-view, with a biased Jewish mentality. They had no idea what he was able to do through them by the Holy Spirit.
But they knew how he had died and was raised from the dead. When they heard his command to go as his evangels into all the world they obeyed, but not before they waited to be endued with power from above.
They became extra-ordinary witnesses of the crucified, raised-from-the-dead, Savior. The Holy Spirit thrust them out of their boxed-in, narrow existence to discover the world God loved. Empowered, they proved there were no limits to how much they would love, serve and suffer as his witnesses to the ends of the earth.
Do you feel limited as a witness for Jesus? Have faith in Jesus' promise of power. Your obedience can take you to unknown people in unknown places to do the extraordinary in Jesus' Name. Be unlimited!
Prayer: Lord Jesus. I want to move into the unlimited power and possibilities of a Spirit-filled life. I wait and open up to receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Amen
