Philippians 2:9-11 "Therefore, God also has highly exalted him and given him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Our text is the future inevitable universal event. All created beings in heaven, every kind of angel, and on earth all mankind, even those long dead and buried, will bow in worship before Jesus Christ, the Lord.

How did such supremacy come about? How did Jesus end up there, highly exalted, enthroned above all other powers?

By going down. Although he had equal status with God the Father, he stepped down from the throne, set aside his privileges of deity and went way, way down. He took on the form of a slave. He became one of us, the poorest of us, a servant. He claimed no entitlements. He lived a selfless life and died a selfless death. Crucifixion.

His obedience exalted him and gave him a name, Jesus, Savior of the world. Sinners bow, angels bend their wings in worship to praise him, the Lamb of God.

Let it go: Be not obsessed with success, advantage, fame. Forget your rights. Don't cling to your status or position. Lay it down. Bow your will. Bend your knees. Go way down at the cross. Think of yourself the Jesus way. To be a good son and soldier, you must submit to God's will.

Prayer:" Lord, before I am humiliated by my selfishness, I humble myself. To surrender to you will kill my pride, but let it die. I confess with my tongue you are my Master. I am your servant. I bow to your will. In your name, Jesus. Amen"
