"Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content...For the love of money is a root of all kinds of eviL... But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness."I TIMOTHY 6:6-11

Teachers who taught for money had invaded the church in Ephesus.  The Apostle Paul feared they would fall into a trap of greed. Lust for money would bring nothing but self-deception and discontent.

It is not money itself, but the love of money is the root of all evil. To love money more than anything else is to break the first commandment. Wealth comes with it's own set of temptations. Often rich people regret the things their love of money made them do and made them become.

Why does anyone want to be rich? The poor often want to be rich. It is human to want what you do not have. Beware! Lust for wealth can be a hazard to one's faith.

There is a wealth to be gained by Christians. It is the rich simplicity of being yourself before God; to be content with what you have.

Enjoy it and share it: But don't love money. Pursue a path of godliness. It is the way to contentment. If you are pierced with self-inflicted sorrow caused by the love of money, humbly confess. God will forgive and heal you. Don't fall in a trap of greed.

Prayer: Lord, help me to remember: "We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out."  I am in this world, but I'll keep a light touch on things. I'm a steward of all you give. Jesus, you are my Treasure. I love you. Amen
