"He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might, he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and grow weary….but those who wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength……"
Isaiah 40:27-31
Do you, after a long fight against evil, suddenly feel discouraged and defeated? You stood for the right and won, yet it left you drained. Do you know what that is? It's battle-fatigue.
You are not alone! God's bravest soldiers often slump, body, soul and spirit, after they win a long battle. Beware! The devil counter-attacks to rob you of the joy of victory.
Recovery from battle fatigue takes more than self-determination. Don't deny your weariness. As a soldier for Jesus you are engaged in spiritual battles won by Holy Spirit vitality. When the soldier is tired, he is not a deserter if he takes time to rest.
You may be tired, but you need not be exhausted. Your source of power never runs out. To continue your stand for Jesus, you must keep filled with the Holy Spirit.
Reflect on this: Weariness is often mistaken as a sign of helplessness, physical and spiritual. But our weakness is God's opportunity to help us. In fact, the third Person of he Trinity is called The Helper. His vitality lasts.
Prayer: Lord, I will not let this slump make me a loser. In your Name, I'm a winner. I admit I'm tired, but I'll wait upon you to renew me by the power of the Holy Spirit. I confess I need the Holy Spirit's vitality. Fill me, keep me filled. Amen
