"These things have I spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." JOHN 16:33
Jesus' disciples were sincere and had every intention to stand by Him, no matter what happened. Yet, in the dark of the night, they all would abandon Him.
Jesus knew that, but He gave them an incredible promise. Their trust in Him would give them His peace. Not in themselves, but in Him they would have peace and be unshakable and assured.
They saw Him die and met him after His resurrection. From the Day of Pentecost, Jesus' disciples went into the world to spread Christianity. They faced every kind of opposition the world could inflict, but had a deep peace the world could not give nor take away. They overcame as Jesus did and never lost the peace they found in Him.
There is a peace in a world of tribulation, a godless world, the same world you are sent into today. This world can turn the bravest into cowards; can shake, destabilize and wreck self-assurance. You may reach a point where you doubt and lose your self assurance. That is when you will find the peace Jesus has promised because He has proved faithful to never leave you or forsake you.
"In Me you may have peace..." Yes, in the world you have difficulties and you have Jesus' peace.
Stand confident in His peace: You will continue to have things happen that will threaten your peace...but tribulation cannot take away Jesus' peace. It is a peace that overcomes the trouble, envelopes it, dissolves it and leaves you unshaken and assured.
Prayer: Dear Prince of Peace, I place my trust in You, not in myself. There is little peace in my world. Help me to carry Your peace. Your peace gives me courage deep inside. I am an overcomer, unshaken and assured. In Jesus' Name, Amen
