“...we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us....does deliver us ...will still deliver us.” II CORINTHIANS 1:8-10
The Apostle Paul shares the time when he and those who served God with Him went through some hard times. In fact, he wondered if they would make it through! But God had mercy! He came alongside to bring them through when the pressure was on.
Often God's servants break down under burdens beyond their strength. Even the strongest sink into despair. Excessive afflictions wear them down to where the only escape seems death.
God sees when you are beyond your ability to endure the pressure you feel; when you think it will kill you! And that's a good thing, for He is the God who raises the dead!
God has a purpose. It will force you, and teach those around you, to trust the Lord totally, instead of trusting one's own abilities. Has He not done it before? Will He not do it again? Can He not bring along the help you need? He can prompt others to help you with their prayers.
If you, or those with you, are under severe pressure of afflictions, facing hard decisions, or danger, don't let fear take over. The One who has delivered still delivers those who put their trust Him. Trust God. He is faithful.
DON'T DESPAIR: Recall when God brought someone to help you; someone He had helped through a hard time. God gave you healing counsel. He will do it again. Then, you will be able to do the same for others. Be there for that person, just as God had someone there for you.
PRAISE: PRAISE TO THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT You, Lord, have delivered, still deliver and I count on You to deliver in the future. There are plenty of hard times for those who serve You, Lord, but no more than the good times of Your healing comfort. Thank you, Lord, for a full measure of that, too!. Praise the Lord!
