“For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.” Hebrews 10:36

All of us who pray for loved ones to receive the blessings God has for them, become impatient at times. Let all who are tempted to give up, hear these words of our text. Ever notice when you are discouraged how you begin to doubt whether you are in the will of God?

The wisest advice I ever had along the line was given to me by a senior employee of a bank where I worked when I was a student in Bible College. I found the work very difficult to me. I wanted to quit. My boss noticed my attitude and called me into her office. When I told her how I felt, she said, “When you started this job I heard you say you felt it was God's will for you.

I faltered. “Yes, I said that....but now, I'm not so sure.”

“Well,” she said sharply,"Either it is or it is not! Don't attempt to stop when you are not sure either way.” She leaned forward. “I have a rule I go by. When I have an important decision to make I try to take as much time as circumstances allow. If I have three months, I take it; three weeks, I take it; three days, I take it. If I have only hours, I take three hours. If I have to make a decision on the spot, I try to snatch three minutes before I decide. I recommend this rule for you.”

I took my three weeks and by then I was certain I was to go, assured I was leaving in God's will, just as I had come in God's will. I went from the old job to a new one on the same day! And I loved it.

TALK IT OVER . If you must make a decision to change plans you originally thought was God's will, don't rush it. Take as much time your circumstances allow you to wait. Stay with God's plan so you'll be there for the promised completion.

TALK IT OVER WITH THE LORD:”Dear Jesus, show me how to please the Father by doing His will. Teach me how to wait upon you, know your will and to do it. When I know your will and do it, then I can claim your promise, O Lord. In Jesus' Name. Amen
