“Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:7-8

Our text calls believers to remember leaders who gave them God's word. It is a reminder to take note of how such people practiced what they preached. Their life style was centered upon pleasing the unchanging Christ.

Those who live to please themselves crave to do what makes them happy. It is easy to assume a sense of entitlement; to say, “I deserve this.” It doesn't take long to forget or to lose respect for those who enabled us to be who we are today.

The baby boomers are the ones who coddled this generation to have a 'everyone-gets-a-trophy' mentality. Parents who indulge their children start out asking,””What can I do to make my family happy?” Their children grow up and they ask,“What can I do in my career that makes me happy?”

Christians can forget people who shared with them God's Word that lighted up their lives. We all need to look back to see how we got to where we are. If we do, we are more likely to look ahead and plan how to share our faith in God's word with others.

When I remember those whose prayers and faith healed and brought me to Christ, it humbles me. I appreciate the spiritual leadership of the evangelists and pastors who gave me God's Word and changed my life.

Honor those who spoke the word of God to you: Allow their conduct to inspire you to be faithful. They were not perfect, but they were forgiven. It is their faith, not their failures, you must remember. Be like Jesus, whose love for you has never changed.

Prayer: Lord help me to honor those who brought your Word to me. Let consistency run through my life. I am glad you never change..always totally Jesus, my Savior. Amen
