“So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem...” Luke 2:1-5
“Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is quiet...” All is not quiet and all is not calm in our violent world. We long for quietness and fail to find it. We struggle to be calm and we try to avoid the confusion of the week before Christmas.
The original week before Christmas was the week before Christ's birth. A pregnant Mary and worried Joseph had been forced into an untimely journey. They were not calm nor were they among serene people, quietly at peace. Everyone was loud in protest against the injustice of a government who forced them into inconvenient circumstances.
If you are upset and nervous, under the pressure of not enough time, slow down. That is how it has always been. The peace Jesus brings is not of this world, but in this world we have His peace within us, even when we are forced into inconvenient circumstances we cannot control.
PRAYER : Lord Jesus, I have faith You control my life for purposes You planned. So I will surrender to Your will, even when it seems inconvenient and untimely. Help me to not be a loud protestor, but a calm believer as I journey on the road of life. Amen
